Second Presbyterian’s Karyn Henley has been making art for as long as she can remember. In college art classes, she discovered her love of portraiture and painting, even as she earned an undergrad degree in education, specializing in early childhood.
She went on to become a trained storyteller, editor, and book coach and earned an MFA in writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts. She now teaches writing, drawing, and painting with alcohol inks to adults at Art & Soul Nashville, a community that has allowed her to experience the way expressive arts emerge from the soul and, in turn, nourish the soul.
She believes that creating connects us in a deeply personal way with the original Creator and Artist, who has given each of us the sacred gift of creativity as one way to reflect God and to explore, inspire, and bring meaning to ourselves and the world.
