Rev. Courtnay Veazey, Pastor & Head of Staff

The Rev. Courtnay Veazey, M.Div., M.S., NCC, was called June 29, 2025 by Second Presbyterian Church to serve as Pastor and Head of Staff.
Courtnay previously served Idlewild Presbyterian Church of Memphis as the Designated Associate Pastor for Outreach, Fellowship, and Recreation.
She earned a Master of Divinity in May 2022 from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, where she attended as a Vannie E. Cook Jr. Fellow. Courtnay completed her Supervised Practice of Ministry at Government Street Presbyterian Church (Mobile, AL) in the summer of 2021.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication (2007) and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health (2011) from Mississippi State University. She has worked in residential treatment and school settings.
Courtnay is married to Kyle Veazey, who is Chief of Staff to the CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Courtnay and Kyle are dog parents to Daisy, a 15-year-old dachshund, and Lily, a 9-year-old, 60-pound mixed breed who thinks she’s a dachshund. Courtnay enjoys ballet, travel, reading, photography, and all things Taylor Swift.

Jeanette MacCallum, Director of Music Ministry
she/her/hers
Jeanette is a lifelong Presbyterian and has been actively involved in music ministry as a singer, conductor, and pianist in Nashville and in her hometown of Princeton, New Jersey.
Jeanette earned a Masters of Church Music at Belmont University. She has conducted choirs at Westminster Presbyterian Church and Blair School of Music, in addition to teaching choral music, music theory, and music history courses at Saint Cecilia Academy, Pope John Paul II High School, Belmont University, and Lipscomb University.
Jeanette MacCallum is the founder and Artistic Director of Vox Grata Women’s Choir, an auditioned community women’s choir dedicated to benefiting the needs of women in the Nashville community. She is also the author of “The Sacred Choral Works of the Venetian Ospedali," recently published by GIA in Conducting Women’s Choirs: Strategies for Success, edited by Debra Spurgeon.
Jeanette is the mother of two grown children, Christina and Jacob. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking and mountain climbing with her golden retriever, Knox.Contact Jeanette: 615.292.3343

Douglas Murray, Organist
he/him/his
Doug comes to us from McKendree United Methodist Church, where he served as Organist since 2012. Before that, Doug served for more than 12 years as Organist at First Presbyterian Church, Nashville, playing for weekly Sunday services in addition to performing on several major recordings and concert programs.
Doug was a finalist and 2nd place prizewinner in the prestigious American Guild of Organists National Competition in Organ Improvisation in Boston. In addition to his work as an organist, Doug is a professor in the department of English at Belmont University.
As an English teacher, Doug considers the hymn text carefully when preparing his hymn accompaniments. He is passionate about congregational singing and works hard to convey the meaning of the text from the organ. He enjoys our Juget-Sinclair organ, having first played it for its dedication in 2007.
Doug lives in Inglewood with his husband, David Lyle. They are the proud parents of twin daughters, Mary and Frances. -
Nicole Armstrong, Administrator
she/her/hers
Nicole manages Second's office and oversees the accounting and financial needs, budget, Session, and much more.
She and her husband, Hart, reside in East Nashville and have two daughters, Piper and Holland. She has been a photographer in the Nashville community for 10+ years and also loves teaching yoga.

Allen Townsend, Property Manager
he/him/his
Allen handles property related matters: repairs, maintenance, and scheduling use of space.
A member of Second for 30+ years, Allen served as an Elder a couple of times, once as chair of the Property Committee.
He has a BS from Southwestern at Memphis (Rhodes College) and an MBA from Tulane University. His career background is Finance with 21 years at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and 5 years as Director of Accounts Payable for Compassus, a national hospice and home health company.
Allen is married to Jeanette MacCallum, Second's Director of Music, and they have one dog, Knox. Allen sings with the church choir and with The Vanderbilt Community Chorus.

Terry Quillen, Administrative & Communications Coordinator
she/her/hers
Terry handles digital and print communications for Second and has administrative responsibilities in our office.
A Nashville native and graduate of Vanderbilt University, Terry was a journalist at The Tennessean for 30+ years. More recently, she handled communication for several state and Metro elected officials.
Terry and her husband, Mike Hines, live in Cheatham County and have three rescue dogs, Little Bosco, Peppermint Dotty, and Dobby. Terry and Mike love to travel, mostly to France, where Terry studied, and to Los Angeles, where her daughter and son-in-law, Olivia and J.R. Lind, and granddaughter, Zoë, live. Terry is a relentless Nashville Predators fan.

Mara Echterling, Audio/Visual Technician
they/them/their
Mara is the Audio/Visual Technician at Second Presbyterian. They were born and raised in Waco, Texas and moved to Nashville in 2021.
They live in East Nashville with their spouse, Lauren, and three fur babies.
Mara is an active community member, a curious spirit, and a multidisciplinary artist. Outside of 2PC, Mara facilitates an art program called Art Salon, plays music under the name Chaelle, and loves to explore the outdoors with friends.
